History:
(Wolverine II#140) - Reanimator watched as Wolverine (actually a Skrull posing as Wolverine) and Nightcrawler arrived at his junkyard headquarters, tracking reported sightings of Magneto. He then attacked the two X-Men with a large array of his robots, including a Magneto double. The heroes destroyed the robots, but left without confronting Reanimator.
(Nova III#3 (fb) - BTS) - Reanimator sent robot doubles of the Red Skull and the Hulk, as well as the Quintronic Man, to rob banks and armored cars. All three were stopped by Nova. Another of Reanimator's robots, H.E.R.B.I.E., observed the battle with Quintronic Man.
(Nova III#5 (fb) - BTS) - Reanimator's H.E.R.B.I.E. unit continued to observe Nova.
(Nova III#7) - Reanimator threatened to exact his revenge on Nova.
(Wolverine II#149) - The real Wolverine went to the junkyard after learning of Nightcrawler and the Skrull imposter's incident there. He came upon Reanimator, who panicked when he saw that Nova (having followed Wolverine) was arriving. The two heroes were then drawn into battle with the remaining robots under Reanimator's control. Nova called in the New Warriors to help, and shortly thereafter, Reanimator lost control of the robots due to the effects of the High Evolutionary wiping out all mutant powers. The robots were destroyed, and Reanimator was arrested.
Comments: Created by Erik Larsen and Joe Bennett.
It is assumed Reanimator got his mutant abilities back along with the rest of mutantkind.
It should be noted that, to add confusion to the situation, a second H.E.R.B.I.E. unit, still working under the programming of the Fantastic Four, appeared in Nova III#4.
How Reanimator managed to gather this many robots without anyone noticing is anyone's guess. Included among his collection were:
- The Robot from Lost in Space (Wolverine II#140 - possibly the same one from Avengers West Coast#68?)
- A skull-headed Magneto robot (Wolverine II#140 - possibly Arcade's android)
- A robot that looks an awful lot like the Transformers Soundwave and Optimus Prime combined (Wolverine II#140)
- A headless Thing (Grimm) robot (Wolverine II#140)
- The Thing (w/head...possibly same one? And are either/both possibly this one?) (Wolverine II#149)
- A Nazi-garbed Red Skull (Nova III#3)
- 2 of The Hulk (classic green version) (And may be the students-built one and/or Arcade's version?) (Nova III#3, Wolverine II#149)
- Iron Man (clunky golden-armored version) (Nova III#3)
- Iron Man (the "pointy-mask" version) (Nova III#3)
- Iron Man (headless, "classic version") (Wolverine II#149)
- The Quintronic Man (Nova III#3, Wolverine II#149)
- Five LMD's of Nick Fury (Nova III#3)
- a H.E.R.B.I.E. unit (Nova III#3)
- A Kree Sentry (possibly Sentry #459?) (Nova III#7)
- Ant-Man (Nova III#7)
- Captain America (Nova III#7, Wolverine II#149)
- Doctor Doom (Nova III#7)
- Thor (Wolverine II#149)
- possibly the Punisher (or maybe the fourth Sleeper) (Wolverine II#149)
- Spider-Slayer Mark-1 (Wolverine II#149)
- Spider-Slayer Mark-5 (Wolverine II#149)
- A Sentinel (Wolverine II#149)
- Impact 739 (Wolverine II#149)
- The Walking Stiletto (Wolverine II#149)
- Tomazooma (Wolverine II#149)
- The Big Wheel (Wolverine II#149)
- possibly Android Man (Wolverine II#149)
- possibly Machinesmith (Wolverine II#149) Much thanks to Prime Eternal for I.D.'ing a good number of these.
I'd like to think the Sentinel that Reanimator had is the same one that showed up recently in the SENTINEL series
