Deathlok Exact Medical Replica (Earth-7484) (original) (raw)
DEATHLOK Exact Medical Replica
Classification: Extradimensional (Earth-7484 / Earth-Deathlok) human cyborg
Creator: CIA (Central Intelligence Agency)
User/Possessors: CIA
First Appearance: Astonishing Tales I#36 (July, 1976)
Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Deathlok EMR was designed as an exact duplicate of Deathlok's cybernetic systems. It is unclear what the source of its organic material is/was; perhaps it was from another clone.
As it was strapped in place, it is quite possible that it had some degree of mobility and possibly even some capacity for thought. It may be that it was a living being that they sentenced to a (brief) life of serving as a piece of monitoring equipment.
History:
(Astonishing Tales I#36 (fb) - BTS) - After Deathlok agreed to continue to work for the CIA, director Theresa Devereaux designed an Exact Medical Replica (EMR) of him. With this they intended to monitor his systems for failure while he was out on assignment.
(Astonishing Tales I#36) - Theresa showed the EMR to the Luther Manning clone, who had received a copy of Manning/Deathlok's memories and persona.
(Astonishing Tales I#36 (fb)) - When Deathlok was sent to Earth-616 by Godwulf, all connections to the EMR were severed, and it ceased functioning. The CIA incorrectly believed the real Deathlok to have died. Manning told the CIA scientists to junk it, as the sight of it made him sick.

Clarifications:
The Deathlok Exact Medical Replica was patterned after:
- Deathlok the Demolisher of Earth-7484--Astonishing Tales I#25
But should otherwise be distinguished from:
- Deathlok - John Kelly, who became Siege--Marvel Comics Presents I#62
- Deathlok (Michael Collins) - the former pacifist placed into the Deathlok cyborg by Cybertek--Deathlok I#1
- Deathlok (Jack Truman) - a cyborg created by S.H.I.E.L.D.--Uncanny X-Men I#371
- Deathlok (Larry Young) - mind-switched into the cyborg by Truman--Deathlok III#11
- Luther Manning of Earth-616 - who was given the original form and powers of Deathlok the Demolisher by Timestream--Deathlok II#25
- Hellinger's Luther Manning clone, from Earth-7484 - which was converted into the first of his Doomsday Mechs--Astonishing Tales I#33
- The CIA's Luther Manning clone - also from Earth-7484 - which was given the memories of Deathlok the Demolisher. It is this clone which was sent to Earth-616 to retrieve Deathlok the Demolisher--Astonishing Tales I#34
- Deathlok robot - built from Deathlok's cyborg parts and controlled by Roxxon--Marvel Two-In-One I#53
