History: (Strange Tales I#78/3) - The Gargoyle couldn't hold down a job or find a girlfriend because of his hideous appearance. He came across a want ad that was right up his alley: "-WANTED- UGLY MAN! FOR CARNIVAL SIDE SHOW." He applied at the Cosmic Carnival, and the carnival workers seemed pleased with the Gargoyle's looks. They took him to a large tent, and locked him inside. The tent was actually a rocket ship, which took off and brought the Gargoyle to an alien world. The Queen of the aliens explained that although everyone on her planet would be considered beautiful on Earth she found them all commonplace and dull. She proposed marriage to the Gargoyle, and he readily accepted.
Comments: Created by an unnamed writer and Paul Reinman.
As with many 1950's and 1960's Marvel monster stories, this story is not confirmed as part of Earth-616 continuity, but there's nothing to exclude it either.

One could assume that the Gargoyle and the Queen are now married. Of course their marriage could have been interrupted by an invasion of Skrulls or a visit from Galactus. Or she could have backed out of the marriage after spending some time getting to know him, after all they talked for about a minute before she proposed.
Strange Tales I#78/3 was reprinted in Where Monsters Dwell#3.
