History: (Journey into Mystery I#57/1) - Orogo came to Earth to take people back to his galaxy and put them to work as forced labor. He went from city to city, hypnotizing people and herding them into his rocket ship. No one stood in his way until Albert Carstairs issued a challenge via the television networks. He claimed Orogo could not hypnotize him, and he wanted a showdown at Municipal Park. Orogo accepted his challenge, but he could not hypnotize the old man because Carstairs was blind, so Orogo kept intensifying his electro-magnetic eye beams until his circuits overloaded and he exploded.
Comments: Created by Larry Lieber and Don Heck.
As with many 1950's and 1960's Marvel monster stories, this story is not confirmed as part of Earth-616 continuity, but there's nothing to exclude it either.
--Leave it in unless something rules it out!--Snood.
The cover of Journey into Mystery I#57 featured Orogo drawn by Jack Kirby, and he looks completely different from the Orogo drawn by Don Heck.
This story ("Orogo!! The Nightmare from Outer Space!!") was reprinted in Fantasy Masterpieces I#2 and Where Monsters Dwell#12.
Orogo is a prototype for Iron Man foe Gargantus. --Gammatotem
