History:
(X-Men Unlimited II#7/1 (fb) - BTS) - Grace and her family were living in Rwanda when members of the Hutu majority government launched a campaign of genocide against her tribe, the Tutsi. When Hutu militants came for her family, Grace was struck in the head multiple times, causing her to go blind. However, she was the sole member of her family to survive the massacre.
(X-Men Unlimited II#7/1 - BTS) - Grace was able to move to the United States of America and came to live in Manhattan's lower East Side. In an effort to hide her mutation, Grace wore a scarf around her head.
(X-Men Unlimited II#7/1 - BTS) - When a group of three men discovered Grace was a mutant, they pulled her into an alleyway for a beating.
(X-Men Unlimited II#7/1) - Grace was saved by the X-Man Nightcrawler who was having a night out on the town. He realized the grateful Grace was blind when she asked to touch his face. Grace had already used her telepathy to read Kurt's mind and learned he was a mutant, though she decided to keep her own powers a secret. The two took a walk to discuss what had happened, during which she revealed her origins and stated that she didn't know if mutants were worse than "normals". Just then the two were hit by stones from a nearby frathouse who'd seen the blue Nightcrawler. Ready to show her true colors Grace noted she would handle it and put her hands on her head using her telepathy to cast an illusion to scare the frat boys off. Nightcrawler was shocked to realize Grace was a mutant just as she removed her scarf, revealing the third eye on her forehead. Grace went on to reveal that she already knew he was a mutant because of her telepathy. Nightcrawler got upset she'd read his mind without permission. Grace continued that he had no right to hide his identity from her. Nightcrawler then allowed Grace to touch his face so she could truly "see" him. Just as their conversation had come to an end they'd arrived at Grace's house and said their goodbyes.
