History: (X-Force I#62) - Remaining by Shinobi Shaw's side, the androgynous woman known as Mindmeld suggested placing the minds of Shaw's guards into rats and using their comatose bodies as pincushions when Shaw's other agent, Clear-Cut, remarked that the guards could not be trusted to keep Shinobi Shaw's secrets. Shaw assured Mindmeld that the human guards were merely a means to an end and ordered Dr. Graves to proceed with the experiments on the young mutant Nga Coy Manh. When X-Force invaded Shinobi Shaw's lab, Shaw ordered Clear-Cut and Mindmeld to make the mutant hero group feel welcome. Moments later, Mindmeld and Clear-Cut, complete with a squad of armored guards, confronted X-Force and Mindmeld expressed joy at finally getting to meet "the infamous Domino," of whom she had heard much. As Shatterstar battled Clear-Cut, Mindmeld used her powers on Domino, forcing Domino's psyche into the body of Caliban before doing the same to Meltdown, placing her psyche in the body of Sunspot. Guards quickly placed inhibitor collars on Domino and Meltdown's comatose physical bodies but Domino, utilizing Caliban's body, attacked Mindmeld, only to be convinced to surrender when Clear-Cut threatened to harm her physical body. Shortly after, Shinobi Shaw exposed Clear-Cut's true intentions, angering Mindmeld, who accused Clear-Cut of betraying Shaw and his agents. Sending her own psyche into Clear-Cut's body, Mindmeld forced Clear-Cut to sleep, allowing him to be captured by Shaw's guards. Unable to immediately return to her own body, Mindmeld's psyche remained in Clear-Cut's body as Clear-Cut was prepared for experimentation. Yelling that she was still inside Clear-Cut's body, Mindmeld was told by Clear-Cut that if he was going down, she was going down with him. Mindmeld frantically spoke through Clear-Cut's body, again exclaiming that she was still present within Clear-Cut's body but Shinobi Shaw informed her that sacrifices had to be made in the name of progress, remarking that Mindmeld's life was a very small sacrifice. The escaped X-Force then interrupted the proceedings, destroying Shinobi Shaw's lab and moments later, Mindmeld's psyche returned to her true body, only to find that Mindmeld had been placed in an inhibitor collar by X-Force's Meltdown. A confused Mindmeld was then knocked out with a punch from Meltdown. Meltdown subsequently destroyed the entirety of Shinobi Shaw's lab with a giant time bomb, presumbaly with the unconscious Mindmeld still inside.
Comments: Created by John Dokes, Kevin Lau, Adam Pollina, Andrew Pepoy and Norman Lee.
While not explicitly stated, it was suggested that Mindmeld was a mutant, based on her association with the mutant Shinobi Shaw and Shaw's reference to "flatscans" (humans) in Mindmeld's presence.
Mindmeld appeared very androgynous but was more often than not referred to as a female.
Mindmeld was still inside Shinobi Shaw's lab when it was blown up by Meltdown at the end of X-Force I#62. Shinobi Shaw was known to have survived the explosion though so perhaps Mindmeld did as well...
