The MPHS Rockstar Award has been passed on to someone who has embodied the traits we want our students to have. This person has shown perseverance, resilience, determination in the face of adversity, and problem-solving skills. This person has found people to help out, asked a lot of questions, and learned that sometimes when you ask, “When am I ever gonna need to know this,” the answer is sooner than you think.
Edye Freeman is a true rockstar- she has shown up this year for our students, she puts in the work, and she empathizes with her students while still having high expectations. She has shown kids what lifelong learners look like. She has struggled and been productive. She may not be having the best year ever, but she has made the best of the year she has had.
Thanks, Edye, for being a rockstar learner and teacher! #mphawks

The Mid-Prairie High School Music Department has had a very busy and successful spring season.
On Saturday, April 6th, over 35 students traveled to Mediapolis High School to compete in the Iowa State Solo & Ensemble Contest. Students must perform classic literature for this competition. Vocalists must also have all music memorized. All solo students are scored based on the following categories: Tone Quality, Intonation, Rhythm, Technique, Interpretation/Musicianship, Diction, and Other Performance Factors (memorization, poise, literature, facial expressions, etc.) Ensembles are scored on all these factors, plus their balance and blend within the group.
