Other/historical names associated with this locality:

Rensselaer Stone Company Quarry; Pleasant Ridge Quarry

An aggregate deposit/quarry located at Pleasant Ridge, 3 miles East of Rensselaer. The quarry is flooded to a couple feet from the surface.

Mineralization is dolostone Paleozoic carbonate sediments of the Middle Devonian Muscatatuck group. Abundant natural bitumen permeated the dolostone, and was in almost every crystal pocket. Calcite crystals frequently had bitumen inclusions.

Workings include surface openings (presumably a quarry operation). The mill is located at the quarry site.
