OLATHE, Kan. - Director of Athletics Todd Garrett has announced Bobby Reiss as the next head coach of MNU Women's Soccer. Reiss was named interim head coach in January after 3 years as an assistant.

4197"I am pleased to announce the promotion of Bobby Reiss as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at MNU," said Garrett. "Coach Reiss been a strong part of our women's soccer program for over 3 years, and his NCAA collegiate, professional playing experience and assistant coaching role are all assets that position him well to further grow a successful program. His proven consistency and loyalty to the program are intangibles that make him the right person to direct in the days ahead. His counseling background, his spiritual depth along with his passion to see young women come to know Christ personally, are all assets that will serve our Athletic Department and MidAmerica Nazarene University community well. We are excited for MNU Sports, Coach Reiss, and the future of the Pioneers."

While Reiss has been a part of the coaching staff, MNU has gone 33-21-8, including two of the best years in program history in 2015 and 2016, reaching the NAIA National Tournament for the first time, as well as breaking into the top-25 schools in the nation. Also in his tenure, Reiss has helped guide 17 players to All Conference honors.

Coach Reiss grew up in California and played in the US Soccer Development Academy in his youth before playing collegiately at Cal State-Fullerton. Reiss made 57 appearances for the Titans, starting in 55 of those games. Reiss graduated with a communications degree from CSUF, but chose to pursue his ambitions to play professionally with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the NASL. Reiss made 23 appearances for the Silverbacks over two seasons, scoring two goals and assisting the team to the NASL Championship in 2013.

In 2015, Reiss chose to pursue his education and joined the Masters of Counseling program at MNU. Reiss brings over 7 years of coaching experience at the youth, high school, and collegiate level.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to continue working with the Women's Soccer program at MNU as the Head Coach," said Reiss. I have been fortunate to assist the team throughout the past 3 years to some of our most successful seasons as a program and I am confident we will continue moving in a positive direction. I'd like to thank all of those involved in supporting this decision in recent weeks including Director of Athletics Todd Garrett, President Spittal, family, friends, and the current Women's team who have been incredible throughout this entire process. My hope is to continue to assist in the positive development of these young women at MNU in their academic, athletic, and spiritual lives as we look to continue to build and grow the Women's Soccer Program."

Reiss and his wife, Katelyn, who is also in the Masters of Counseling Program, live in Kansas City, Missouri.
