District Patrol Craft * Built by Lake Union Dry Dock and Machine Works, Seattle, WA * Launched, date unknown * Commissioned as CG-275, 1925 * Transferred to the US Navy, 15 January 1934 * Placed in service as YP-17, 1934 * Assigned to Thirteenth Naval District, training reservists, 1934-1940 * YP-17 was delivered along with YP-16 by USS Ramapo (AO-12) to Apra Harbor, Guam, 22 October 1940 * Both were to augment the local defenses and to provide naval surveillance and reconnaissance in the waters around Guam * Badly damaged in typhoon at Piti, Guam, 03 November 1940 * Damaged and fell into Japanese hands with the fall of Guam, 10 December 1941 * Struck from the Naval Register, 24 July 1942 * YP-17 earned one battle star for World War II service for the Philippine Islands Operation (Including Guam)
