Identity
NCCJ provides programs, consulting and education for youth to adults on social justice issues related to social identity in order to reduce bias, bullying, oppression, and discrimination. Meeting individuals at the intersectionality of nine core areas of identity: ability, age, body size, class, gender, race, religion, sex and sexual orientation. These constructs create the sense of who we are and how we move through the world.
The language we use shapes how we view and understand the world around us and is our primary tool for expression and communication. Language is complex, imperfect, and constantly evolving as marginalized groups gain agency in clearly defining themselves and their experiences.
Headquartered in Middletown, CT, NCCJ employs a staff of 4 full-time employees, and extended community of training facilitators who design and deliver Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs and consulting services to thousands annually. We have worked with large corporations across many verticals, governmental and non-profit organizations, faith-based and interfaith communities, schools, public libraries, colleges, and universities.
