HOLLYWOOD star Mark Wahlberg has made an unexpected business venture, investing in a Caribbean cricket team after falling in love with the sport.

According to The Sun, Wahlberg has bought a stake in Limacol Caribbean Premier League's Barbados Tridents team after he was introduced to the game by the club’s chairman, Ajmal Khan.

The actor said in a statement to announce his investment: "I'm excited to be a part of the Limacol Caribbean Premier League because I know cricket is huge in the Caribbean and a rich part of the region's heritage.

Wahlberg went on: "Thanks to my dear friend Ajmal Khan who introduced me to Barbados and the LCPL, I am a huge cricket fan now."
