Anamur by Dick Osseman (original) (raw)

Hi Fatma,

I found another site for you to tell they are liars, their story athttp://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Middle_East/Turkey/photo164483.htm

is:

Cape Anamur - next to the old Anamurion (windy place -> in Greek) the southernmost antique city in Turkey; the eastern exit of the gulf of Antalya.

It’s history started in late Hellenistic period of the Kommangene (this kingdom built the world famous place of worship on the Nemrud mountain); its last king Antiochos IV was ‘dismissed’ by Vespasian in 72 A.C. and Anamurion was integrated in the roman Empire.

Trade and its perfect place for the ancient coastal trade brought prosperity to the town. In the early time of Christianity in minor Asia, it became an archbishopric. Again and again the ‘harmony’ was disturbed by attacks from mountain tribes.

In 650 A.C. the city perished.

In the 12th and 13th century the Armenian Kings fortified the city and the cape again, an alliance with the crusaders brought some ‘western’ elements in the castle east of the town.

With the decline of Armenia, the town belonged temporarily to Cyprus before the Seldchuks (Emir of Karaman) came, followed by the Ottomans.

Cyprus is only 45 miles away, but passing this corner in a small boat, you feel like being at the end of the world!

I passed the cape several times in both directions and experienced, why the old ones called it a windy place, whenever the cape lies astern, everybody cheers up…

Well, Fatma, of course you will write to that person that he is just as much a liar as I am. But maybe you simply are wrong (or a bit stupid, or a nationalist Turk that does not accept any other opinion than her own, or all of that)? I am certain that you will disagree with me, and if you go on calling me names your message will disappear. I will not answer you at faslanbay@hotmail.com, because it is my experience those addresses are almost always fake. But I thought you ought to receive some supply.

Oh, could you explain how my name (which is in my passport) can possibly be a fake?
