Considering the nature of his injury, this is likelier to mean that Prescott will miss more than four games rather than having a significant chance of returning in the next month of play. Even so, the fact the team did not place him on injured reserve widens the potential outcomes with an injury considered to be significant, with the decision to hold off on placing him on injured reserve likely at the request of the quarterback, who has been reported to be seeking additional opinions. Fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye on the happenings in Dallas in the coming week to determine if they can expect the franchise quarterback back prior to fantasy playoffs. -
Olave has already been ruled out for Week 10 against the Falcons. Rapoport notes that the move to IR is expected to become official later today. That puts Olave on the shelf for at least four games. Rapoport even speculated that given the nature of the injury and the team’s record, Olave’s season could already be over. Olave was placed on a backboard and carted off the field after he suffered his second concussion of the season and fifth documented concussion of his football-playing career in Week 9 against the Panthers. -
Robinson has scored five touchdowns over his last four games, somewhat inflating his fantasy-scoring potential; he is averaging just 1.23 yards per route run during that span, which more accurately reflects his expected weekly productivity. That said, a capable player in a high-end passing offense remains WR3/4-viable, particularly with four teams on bye. -
Brooks was activated from the reserve/NFI list this week and practiced in full during all three sessions. Still, head coach Dave Canales was non-committal on his status for Week 10. The good news is that fantasy managers will get to see Carolina’s inactives before every game other than Thursday’s kicks off. The bad news is that’s because the Panthers take on the Giants in Germany for a game kicking off bright and early stateside. Playing in his first game in nearly a year, Brooks will be eased back into the lineup this week if he plays at all. Fantasy managers wanting to get their full eight hours of sleep should just keep Brooks on the bench. -
Sanders was back in action on Friday, practicing in full with the rest of his Panthers’ teammates. The enticing rookie tight end is averaging 2.43 yards per route run over the last three weeks and the Giants’ tight end-coverage unit is among the league’s worst. He is firmly on the streaming TE1 radar. -
Hunt’s inclusion on the injury report is seemingly a formality at this point. He regularly takes it easy during the practice week before suiting up come game day. This is just the Chiefs smartly managing the 29-year-old’s repetitions. He is an RB2. -
Edwards practiced in a limited capacity on Wednesday and Thursday before being upgraded to a full participant on Friday. He should be good to go this week, though the Chargers could always play things conservatively and wait for him to be fully available for multiple practices. He cannot be started against the Titans. -
Bucs coach Todd Bowles told reporters last week that Irving will likely be dealing with this toe injury for the rest of the season. He then noted that the team will limit his practice reps during the week to keep him ready for Sundays. Irving led the Bucs’ three-headed backfield with seven carries in Week 9 but only turned that into 24 yards. He also caught three balls for an additional 10 yards. As part of a nightmare rotation, Irving is a lowly RB for Week 10. -
Mayfield missed the first two practices of the week with the toe issue. The Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud reported yesterday that he would be “fine” and that appears to be the case. Mayfield has thrown five touchdowns in two games without Mike Evans or Chris Godwin. He also threw two interceptions two weeks ago and only managed 200 yards last week versus the Chiefs, so fantasy managers will have to take the good with the bad. In another tough matchup with the 49ers, Mayfield will straddle the QB1/2 border for Week 10. -
We do not yet know how the 49ers’ backfield touches will be distributed but Mason has more than proven himself as a capable contributor. He remains RB4-viable thanks to his rushing talents and the 49ers’ efficient offense. This weekend’s game should provide clarity on the situation moving forward.
