Critics Consensus

Though some may find the plot a bit lacking, Blade's action is fierce, plentiful, and appropriately stylish for a comic book adaptation.

Peter Bradshaw Guardian Blade is an entertainingly macabre and excitingly staged action horror, with a propulsive energy... Rated: B+ Oct 19, 2020 Full Review Michael O'Sullivan Washington Post Blade's stomach-turning special effects, bone-crunching martial arts and cynical humor will more than satisfy any action-film addict's need for a fix of eye-popping escapist adrenaline. Apr 2, 2019 Full Review Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net the script is frankly quite dull with cheesy special effects and action that is hard to get invested in. Esra Y Wesley Snipes is incredibly cool you can't take your eyes off him. I find the lore weak but overall movie is fun. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/13/24 Full Review Jouwad S Watched this amazing dime piece of a movie in the 90s and more recently. It still holds up from the amazing action to The awesome story line you will not want to leave your seats. I want to see more vampire movies built like this one or like Underworld. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/09/24 Full Review Audience Member I'm surprised how mature and dark this movie was for a comic book movie (mainly for the time that it came out and when comic book movies weren’t that overdone yet). The fight choreography, action, violence, etc were all great and kept me entertained. There was only one weird scene where Blade pulled out his gun at someone running away on the streets of the busy city which seemed to scare people at first but then people kept walking like normal and not running away or panicking only a few seconds later which felt odd. However, that's just one measly flaw. Everything else largely worked and felt intense and original for what they were going for. THIS is how you do vampire action!
