Will Self London Evening Standard Cruise lacked the deepdown malevolence required to bring Vincent to life. I wished him dead in the first few minutes he was on the screen -- and for the wrong reasons. Jan 8, 2018 Full Review Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com A visually striking film from the unhinged, endlessly creative mind of Michael Mann. It was one of the best films of that year and boasts plenty of great qualities, including the excellent work by Cruise and Foxx. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/29/24 Full Review Clayton D A solid thriller that benefits from it's lead actors Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/16/24 Full Review Tooraj N I think its a perfect symbole of neo noir movies Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/16/24 Full Review T Floyd L "Collateral" is a solid thriller directed by Michael Mann, known for his attention to detail and strong atmosphere. Tom Cruise plays Vincent, a methodical hitman, who commandeers the services of cab driver Max, portrayed by Jamie Foxx, for a night of grim tasks. Cruise's portrayal of Vincent is effective, showing a calculated and emotionless character, while Foxx's Max offers a grounded performance, capturing the stress of an ordinary man caught in extraordinary circumstances. The cinematography effectively captures the urban landscape of Los Angeles at night, contributing to the film's overall tone. The story moves at a steady pace, with dialogue that adds to the tension without overreaching. While "Collateral" follows some familiar paths in the thriller genre, it stands out due to the strong performances and Mann's focused direction. It's a well-crafted film that delivers a tense and engaging experience, making it a worthwhile watch for those who appreciate thoughtful thrillers.
