Critics Consensus

Although many of the jokes have been done before, Anna Faris's bright performance and Gregg Araki's sharp direction make Smiley Face more than your average stoner comedy.

Augustine J Smiley Face is such a neat little indie gem. It's not the Godfather, but it's a fun trip that has a lot of good laughs. It feels like the entire movie is just stoned. Like the film reel anthropomorphized and sparked up a joint. The movie is so perfectly scatter-brained. It's great, man. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/01/24 Full Review Steve J Seriously underrated movie. I probably wouldn't have got it if I hadn't also accidentally eaten too much edibles one time before I saw it. I'm sure the writers also ate too much also. If you haven't smoked pot you may think that's what being high is like. It's not. If you smoked pot but never ate too much edibles you may think this move is exaggerating, it's not. They did a great job showing what it feels like and the challenge of doing everyday tasks. Super funny when you realize what's she's experiencing is pretty spot on. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/22/23 Full Review Daisy D This movie is so bad and super annoying I'm a stoner and this movie just irritated me so bad I couldn't even finish watching it. I love Anna Faris but this movie was really disappointing. Idk what the makers were thinking with this one. So disappointed 😞.. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/01/23 Full Review Rochelle I loved it as well as the group of people I was with!! I still watch it often😂But you have to be high on flower to understand/make sense otherwise you will hate it sober! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/10/23 Full Review Eddie M Funny, lighthearted stoner film with some (sadly) relateable moments Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/21/22 Full Review Audience Member Most accurate portrayal of a woman stoned off her ass, that's got important shit to do. A reminder to us all to be careful what sweets you eat. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
