Welcome to Sevington Victorian School (original) (raw)
Sevington Victorian School
where history comes to life...
Sevington Victorian School is a wonderful resource. Set in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, it is a perfect period piece where history truly comes alive.
The school was founded in 1849. Miss Squire took up her post as teacher just before her twentieth birthday and continued to teach there for more than fifty years. When she retired, the schoolroom was left untouched and today we can still see how it looked in Miss Squire's day, complete with her desk, pointer and blackboard.
Our website gives you all of the information that you need to plan your school or group visit, as well as:
- what you can expect from your visit;
- our curriculum links;
- a wonderful history of Joseph Neeld, the original benefactor;
- an overview of the school in Victorian times;
- a fascinating insight into Miss Squire's prospectus;
- full details of how you can help this unique charity, as well as what you will get out of it!
W hen you have had a good look around, contact us for more information, or find out how to book here.

As we have no regular sources of funding, we are always grateful for any donations to our Charity. As you can imagine, Sevington School, in common with many smaller charities, has been affected by the loss of fundraising opportunities due to the Corona Virus outbreak and the rising cost of living. This is all thanks to the generosity of the community and a lot of hard work by our wonderful team of volunteers.
