Lalah Hathaway is the daughter of the great Donny Hathaway.

She was only ten years old when her father commited suicide.
At the age of 21 she had signed to Virgin Records.
Lalah made a good impression with her debut recording 'Lalah Hathaway' in 1990.
The album contained the tracks 'Heaven Knows', 'Something', 'Smile' and 'I'm Coming Back', all of which were highly popular in the U.K.
She not only displayed poise, confidence, and good technique, but was also versatile enough to do more than just light urban contemporary ballads.
1994, saw the follow-up album 'A Moment', which was well received and contained the popular track 'Do You Suppose'.
In 1999, Lalah teamed up with Crusader member, Joe Sample.
The album 'The Song Lives On' was critically acclaimed with Lalah covering classic soul and jazz tunes as well as some new numbers.
Her stage shows include jazz, pre-rock pop, and even gospel, and Lalah Hathaway has appeared on Black Entertainment Television performing jazz and fusion.
In 2004, Lalah released a new album entitled 'Outrun The Sky', which was followed by a label move to Stax Records for the album 'Self Portrait' in 2008.
