Album of pencil and pen ink sketches and watercolours by Frederick Bartlett The image comes from a delightful album of sketches by Frederick James Bartlett (c.1868). Known as Fred, he was a cabinet maker and accomplished watercolour artist. Born in Plymouth, England, he later became an active figure in Tasmania’s artistic community. Bartlett was a member of both the Arts and Crafts Society of Tasmania and the Art Society of Tasmania, exhibiting regularly with the latter. His craftsmanship is evident in numerous works, including furnishings for St Aidan’s Anglican Church in Lindisfarne.
