The Commonwealth Farm in Þjórsárdalur (Thjorsardalur) is a living exhibition of times gone by. The reconstructed farm is based on the excavated farmhouse Stöng, buried under volcanic tephra in an eruption in 1104. However, the history of the people who lived there is still shrouded in mystery.
Open every day
from May1st to October 15th each year
from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm
Adults: 2.500 kr.
Kids 6-12 years 500 kr.
Youth, under 6 years: free admission.
- Travel 900 years back in time within a minute of leaving the main road. Visit the Farm and experience a medieval and unconventional way of life. You can wear medieval clothing and play cards in the hall.
Weave on the loom and debate on the benches before heading out to battle.
