Spotlight On... the BLOB!
Nothing moves the Blob! Fred J. Dukes has menaced the X-Men from the very beginning, working with everyone from Magneto to Mystique, or merely causing trouble as his own ornery self. Surly and short-tempered, Blob has proven a difficult partner over the years, but he has also forged lasting friendships like with Unus the Untouchable. After recovering from the Decimation and the reality warp of the Age of X-Man, a kinder and gentler Fred found his place on Krakoa running the Green Lagoon. The Fall of X pushed him back towards his criminal past, but the final fate of the Blob has yet to be written. (Today's Spotlight is brought to you by the number 496.)
Spotlight On... SASQUATCH I!
It's been over a decade since we last update this popular Alphan's Spotlight, and since we last saw him, a lot has changed. Now, this character isn't horrific in a bad way, but from his origin with the Great Beasts, to body-swapping and all sorts of other unusual goings-on this character has been through a lot. Not least of all is a time spent in space as part of the Alpha Flight Space Station crew. It's during that time that one of the most shocking things yet befall this hero which saw him murdered. But when another character returned in his body, what does he do - return in that character's original body - but he never lost his sense of humor! Find out who in our updated Spotlight on...SASQUATCH! (Thanks for joining us for this week of scary Alpha Flight character releases!)
Profile on... PESTILENCE II
The second of two brand-new Alpha Flight villain releases this week is a monster indeed. This noted doctor became frozen deep beneath the Arctic ice, neither dead nor alive, he remained trapped in suspended animation for over a century. When a vengeful member of Alpha Flight sought to humiliate another, Canada's Premiere Super-Heroes found themselves lured to the Arctic, where the now hateful doctor was freed from the ice and could command the forces of decay. But he knew his return would be short-lived unless he could take possession of an innocent child - Snowbird's child. Can Alpha Flight stop the horror that is...PESTILENCE? Find out inside!
Spotlight update on... DREAMQUEEN
Today's spooky Alpha Flight update was originally released at Halloween a few years back. While it's rare for Alpha Flight villains to appear outside of Alpha Flight comic books, this nasty character made a surprise return when she tried to conquer one of the greatest realms of all, before launching an assault on a synthezoid hero - which led to a duel against one of the most powerful witches of them all. Hungry for power and for men, she's a thing of nightmares...the DREAMQUEEN!
Profile On... SCRAMBLE!
Jeepers, it's that spooky time of year when things are creepy and kooky... just like Alpha Flight was back in the early days of the original series. So what better way to celebrate Halloween here at UXN than a week of Alpha Flight releases??? Nothing! First up, this body-horror mutant was the first villain that Alpha Flight encountered under the original series' second writer, Bill Mantlo. This character was the previously unknown brother of Alpha Flight's associate, Madison Jeffries who had the dangerous power to modify flesh - and he is very, very, maladjusted... beware the touch of...SCRAMBLE THE MIXED-UP MAN!
Profile On... LARA THE ILLUSIONIST!
David Hine's District-X series was mostly populated with mutants with very low level, even at times personally detrimental, abilities. Despite that, there was the occasional resident with a real power. Power enough to trick even an Omega class mutant, like Mr. M! Initially introduced as sassy sex worker, readers soon found out that Ms. King was a deeply insecure woman, who at her core had a suppressed heroic nature. Read here about Lara the Illusionist.
