Contestants from at least 19 countries are flocking to Budapest for the first Rubik's Cube world championship contest, to be held June 5.
The cube's Hungarian inventor, Prof. Erno Rubik, will be one of the judges. Representing the U.S. will be Minh Thai, 17, a Vietnamese refugee who now attends Eagle Rock H.S. in Los Angeles and who won the U.S. title last fall by solving the cube in 26.04 seconds. First prize in Budapest will be a gold-plated Rubik's Cube.
