Why support Veditum’s work?
When you donate to Veditum, you help us improve India’s environmental governance paradigm. Our work is helping citizen groups and communities take action, while also creating strong but empathetic environmental leaders for the future.

Veditum India Foundation is a non profit organisation based in Kolkata, registered as a section 8 company since 2016. Veditum is recognised under Section 80G(5)(vi) and Section 12AA of the Income Tax act 1961.
50% of the amount donated to Veditum can be deducted from your taxable income under section 80(G) of the IT Act 1961 – only when filing under the old tax regime.
How would you like to contribute?
If our work speaks to you, there are a few ways to lend your support. Join the growing community of people who care deeply about India’s rivers and its environment.
You can choose to sign up for recurring monthly or annually donations. Or you can make a one-time contribution. Please support however you are able to.
When you choose a recurring donation, it builds confidence in our team to explore new imaginations and pathways for environmental and social justice.

What does your donation go towards?
Walking, making records, documenting, creating archives, toolkits for actions, community building, producing stories, making films – all our work is designed to either be simple, replicable, and in service of the community.
Your donations help us keep boots on the ground, produce reports and stories, explore new ideas to address environmental & social issues and also fund fellowships that have taken the voices of communities across the globe.
Your support is critical to the work we do at Veditum, as we strongly believe that together, we can walk far. The support by our patrons helps us:
- Enhance governance mechanisms for our rivers by building open data projects for accountability on river sand mining in India such as India Sand Watch.
- Walk along rivers of India and document the stories and experiences of riparian communities through personal narratives through the Moving Upstream project and Fellowship.
- Create spaces for conversations, deliberations and to inspire others through a community of changemakers such as our Kolkata Change Makers initiative.
