Dracula star drops in to see patients (original) (raw)

Young Dracula star Gerran Howell took time out to visit sick children on a cancer ward.

Gerran, 15, from Barry, was invited by the charity LATCH and spoke with children at the Children's Hospital for Wales, and presented young patient Cieran Edwards, seven, with a toy bat.

The Barry Comprehensive School pupil stars in the CBBC television programme based on the children's book by Michael Lawrence.

Gerran's mother is a trustee of the charity LATCH after his sister Beth passed away at the age of four from leukaemia.

'My family has always supported LATCH and I am really glad that I am able to do my little bit to cheer up the children at Christmas time,' said Gerran.nbsp;

Denise Henderson, LATCH co-ordinator, said: 'It makes such a difference to the children and their families when they receive special visitors during their long stays in hospital.

'Gerran's visit brought smiles to the faces of the children who, sadly, spent Christmas in hospital this year.'
