Summary:Pamphlets, 1861-1909, the majority of which were published during the Civil War period. Most of the ones from the war period are pro-Union. The rest of the pamphlets were published after the war and are concerned with events that happened during the war and the Civil War's place in United States history. Some topics covered by the pamphlets include reconstruction of the southern states; Confederate battle flags; mistreatment of Union soldiers taken prisoner; the Confederate navy; and the Confederate government. A few first-person accounts are in the collection. These narratives are by military men such as Gen. R.E. Rodes, Col. John B. Baldwin, Capt. Robert E. Park, and Gen. A.P. Hill.
