Summary:Letter to Stephen Van Rensselaer discussing political matters. He asks for Albany papers which may have political accounts and mentions that he has sent a copy of the Columbian Sentinel to Van Rensselaer. Mentions the conduct of the "canvassers" and the people's reaction to them. Mentions also Mr. Jay and Mr. Clinton. States that he is enclosing a pamphlet (not included) entitled "Strictures and Observations upon the three Executive Departments of the Government of the United States", which mentions Thomas Jefferson, Henry Knox, Gouverneur Morris, the President, Henry Pickering, and Alexander Hamilton. He asks that the pamphlet be sent on to Kinderhook, after Van Rensselaer and Schuyler are finished with it. Written at Pittsfield, Mass
