Summary:The surviving files of the Director of Industrial Engineering consist of a sample of reports and studies. Most were undertaken between 1963 and 1966, but there are some earlier items inherited from elsewhere in the Operating Dept. While most of the reports contain analyses of the structures and work force at various locations, they are not strictly in the Taylorist tradition or time-and-motion studies. They are mostly concerned with things like overall input and output, with the narrow goal of getting rid of anything unnecessary or redundant
