Irving Gavett papers, circa 1892-1977 (bulk dates 1909-1947) | WorldCat.org (original) (raw)

Summary:The G. Irving Gavett papers are comprised of two accessions of material received directly from his widow, Cora Mae Hall Gavett and from her estate through the Skagit County Historical Museum. The item donated by Mrs. Gavett is the manuscript of a lecture by her husband (1914). Materials acquired from the Skagit County Historical Museum include a notebook containing brief diary entries begun in 1906 by G. Irving Gavett on the recto of the leaves in the volume; Cora Mae Gavett began using blank verso pages of the book for her own diary entries (circa 1935-1969). Another small notebook (probably begun in 1947) contains biographical notes about G. Irving Gavett's life, possibly transcribed from his personal diaries by his wife and/or assistants; also interspersed within these notes are entries on Cora Mae Gavett's own activities. An additional small notebook (circa 1892-1905) contains engineering and mathematical notes relating to a reinforced arch. The collection also includes two small blue student grade books, which document courses taught by G. Irving Gavett at the University of Washington (1909-1911)
