Summary:The majority of the materials are financial in character but also include account books, ledgers, business documents and family sketches. A scrapbook devoted to the career of James Guthrie is present as well as farm and househood account books and family letters. Included are an interesting group of letters written from Europe by Mary Elizabeth Guthrie and her second husband, John Caperton, in 1854 to members of the family in Kentucky. Also present are a sawmill ledger (1884-1885), an account book (1880-1902) of household and farm accounts, a farm account book (1896-1902), other ledgers and record books and a genealogical note book
