Summary:Letter [possibly to Nanna W. Manning, wife of publisher H.O. Houghton] declining an invitation: "I am to start for Washington tomorrow morning and so cannot accept your kind invitation. Will you please tell Mrs. Jackson that Mr. Goddard, Mr. and Mrs. Davis, and Mr. Lincoln are going too? I wish Mrs. Jackson were going with us ... Please remember me to Mr. Houghton who has been very kind to me."
