Summary:Correspondence, advertisements, articles and clippings, and promotional and supplementary materials concerning diphtheria treatments and "cures," including T.P. Cordrey, maker of Cordrey's Compound Specific, 1893-1912; Gibbs' Diphtherin, 1924-1930; and Walter R. Hadwen, 1924-1946. Hadwen (a vegetarian, antivaccinationist, and antivivisectionist whose views enjoyed support from the chiropractic profession) misdiagnosed a case of diphtheria as bronchitis and pneumonia, and refused to inject diphtheria anti-toxin; he was tried for manslaughter, but acquitted
