Gerald E. Wheeler talks about his career in the navy and his flight school education as well as his college education after the navy. He recollects his teaching career after the navy at the United States Naval Academy and how he acquired his position as an assistant professor in the History Department at San Jose State College. He comments on working with various faculty members of San Jose State and his membership with the History Faculty seminar. He goes on to recollect his appointment as the assistant academic Vice President, chairman of the History Department and later dean of the school of Social Sciences
