Summary:Diana Gould, later Menuhin, met Lawrence Durrell in 1944 in Alexandria, Egypt. She was an actress and dancer while he was still working for the British Information Office as well as being a poet and author. It was wartime and they were both from England, thus began a friendship that would endure for more than thirty years. This collection primarily consists of Durrell's letters and poems to Menuhin from 1944-1977, as well as a copy of Sappho he sent to her in 1956. The letters from Menuhin to Durrell can be found in the Lawrence Durrell Papers, Second Accession, Collection 163
