Letter from John Forster, London, to George Cattermole, 1855 March 12 : autograph manuscript signed | WorldCat.org (original) (raw)

Summary:Commenting on various asylums; saying "Hanwell would not do - because at Hanwell they take none but pauper patients. You are quite right in the notion as to the superiority of public over private asylums - but if those which I named to you are too distant, there is a large private asylum at Bow which is very well conducted, & has many of the advantages of a public institution - which might be desirable for the purpose - This is "Mr. Byas : Grove Hall, Bow'. If you determine to make application to him, you may use my name in doing so. I should imagine that very good care and accommodation indeed might be obtained there at from a guinea to 25/a week - There are no public institutions near London that would be at all suitable to the case."
