Summary:Passport, Aug. 6, 1770, and letter (in French), Aug. 18, 1771, written by Fort Michilimackinac commander George Turnbull. The passport grants M. Langlade (probably Charles Langlade) the right to go to "La Bay" (now Green Bay, Wisconsin) with merchandise for the Indian trade. Turnbull's letter praises the character of the unknown correspondent and informs him that British relations with Spain are now calm. Turnbull also notes that he is sending gifts for his correspondent and for the "Canon le Chef de la Baye."
