Papers, 1938-1952 | WorldCat.org (original) (raw)

Summary:The collection chiefly consists of correspondence, mostly of a personal or congratulatory nature, to and from Krug during his tenure as U.S. Secretary of the Interior. Many of the letters are attached in sequences by correspondent within the larger chronological framework. The letters often reflect patterns of patronage, with writers asking Krug to exert his influence on their behalf, or Krug requesting favors from others. The signatures of a number of Truman administration officials are represented, as well as some nationally-known civic and social leaders. The minor categories of the collection include invitations, programs, and photographs from the 1949 Presidential Inauguration. Several items from later years mention loyalty hearings in the Tennessee Valley Authority, where Krug served from 1938-1944
