Summary:Diary, 1852-1857, recording Jordan's service on three circuits in N.C. and one in Va. Entries in the diary are usually brief, but Jordan's remarks contain considerable color, and the diary conveys a strong impression of what life was like for an itinerant Methodist clergyman of that time. Notable references include, Starling Gunn, Charles M. Force Deems, Greensboro College, slave traders of Caswell Co., Normal College (later Trinity College), a profitable gold mine in Randolph Co., Rev. Micajah Hill, Bishop George Foster Pierce, Rev. William Ormond and Ormond's Chapel, Rev. William W. Nesbitt, and Braxton Craven. Extended meetings or revivals are noted often, usually during the warm months
