Summary:The Martha Lamb Papers consist of extensive personal and some professional correspondence; copies of all major articles and published books by Lamb and others--15 volumes; research notes and reviews for History of New York; copies of her Magazine of American History; biographical material including genealogical material compiled by curator of Northampton Historic Society, ca. 1950s; diaries; and organization files with printed material and correspondence regarding numerous historical societies, etc., in NY and elsewhere. Topics of her writings include women's rights, social reform, politics, and personal remembrances. Also included is source material for Susan Lyman's biography, Lady Historian Martha J. Lamb. Notable correspondents include Louisa May Alcott, Presidents Rutherford B. Hayes and Theodore Roosevelt, and John Jay
