Summary:Photographs of Henry Davis Minot [HDM], ornithologist, artist, and railroad executive, best known as the first president of the Eastern Minnesota railroad. One narrow box of loose photographs includes portraits of HDM as a child and as an adult, as well as various Minot family members and friends; several souvenir carte de visite photographs of England and France; and various images of birds. Subjects of the portraits include HDM's friends and classmates at Harvard University (including Henry Eliot Guild, Francis James Child, and Theodore Roosevelt), Alice Woodburn Minot, Charles Sedgwick Minot, Katharine Sedgwick Minot, Laurence Minot, Mary Minot, and William Minot, among others. The photographs include cartes de visite, cabinet cards, and tintypes and were taken by George Kendall Warren (of Cambridge, Mass.) and James Notman, William Notman, John Adams Whipple, Allen & Horton, and Allen & Rowell (all of Boston, Mass.)
