Summary:Commonplace book primarily containing copies of poetry verses, possibly owned by a young British woman, possibly Amelia Van Antwerp. The owner also copied a school prayer and a few excerpts from novels. The volume includes five original poems, possibly written by Ida Elizabeth Deacon and Amelia Van Antwerp. Published works copied include poems by Owen Meredith and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, as well as the novels HEAD OF THE FAMILY, THE MOTHER'S RECOMPENSE, and DOMBEY & SON. The date the entry was made usually accompanies each item. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture. (02-014)
