Abstract:Collection consists of the correspondence and publications of John Robert Moore. The collection spans 1910-1972, with the bulk of the material dating from 1930-1970 and consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, and reprints organized in two series. The first series, Correspondence, primarily concerns his published works on Daniel Defoe. Many of the letters thank and praise him for his work. Prominent correspondents include IU Presidents William Lowe Bryan and Herman B Wells, English poet John Masefield, and prominent American historian Frederick Tolles. The second series, Publications, consists of a number of Moore's papers and articles, many about Daniel Defoe. Some of the works included are his Defoe and the eighteenth-century pamphlets on London, Daniel Defoe and modern economic theory, and Geography of Gulliver's Travels
