Summary:The papers are comprised of three series. The first, Research Notes for Nevins Volume III series, 1957-1962 (3.2 cubic ft.), Acc. 881, consists of material maintained by Wilkins during research for Nevins and Hill's third volume of the history of the Ford Motor Company. The files contain extensive notes on a wide range of Ford Motor Company activities, including advertising, aviation, banking, engineering, legal issues and suits, products, purchasing, raw materials, war production, labor relations, overseas operations, and sales. Of particular interest are reports Wilkins prepared for Nevins and Hill that contain more detail than the final data which appeared in the book, early drafts with Wilkins annotations, and correspondence with Frank Hill. The papers also include outlines for a book on Ford Motor Company international activities, which she conceived during this research, related correspondence, interviews, and early drafts. The second series, Ford International Research Papers, 1957-1962 (3.6 cubic ft.), Acc. 880, is comprised of research notes regarding Ford Motor Company international operations. The bulk of the material is arranged alphabetically by country. Topics within most countries include chronologies, interviews, personnel, and labor. The series also includes notes regarding Henry Ford, Edsel Ford, and Henry Ford II, with a particular emphasis on travels abroad and "business habits." The third series, Wilkins-Hill Manuscript, 1963 (0.8 cubic ft.), Acc. 982, holds one annotated draft and one proof of American Business Abroad: Ford on Six Continents
