Summary:Contains correspondence, minutes, and financial records of the Foundation. Also contains applications, recommendations, reports, newsletters, news clippings, and pamphlets of 65 organizations that applied to the Foundation for support. Also contains photographs. The kinds of projects that received Foundation support included: cooperative nursery care in an interracial community, research projects to identify problems in citizenship organizations, neighborhood improvement organizations, and organizations to improve the citizen participation of minority groups. The Industrial Areas Foundation, headed by Saul Alinsky; the Highlander Folk School Project; the Hyde Park-Kenwood Community Conference; the South Chicago Community Center; the United Community Fund of San Francisco; Citizens Planning and Housing Association of Baltimore; the American Indian Development; and the Migrant Citizen Education Project are just a few of the projects that received funding.
