Summary:Diary of Samuel May gives account of daily life of a retired 19th century clergyman. A very active retiree, he continues to perform many ministerial duties along with writing, traveling, and attending meetings related to Temperance, Freedmen's aid, and Women's rights. He maintains a large correspondence, continues to write about the anti-slavery movement. In this year he resigns as president of the Syracuse Board of Education and goes to Washington in support of the Suffrage cause
