Summary:Most of the documents in this collection consist of military orders, correspondence, commissions, etc. concerning Captain Charles Frost (1632-1697) and Major John Hill (1666-1713). Major Hill and Captain Frost were militia officers responsible for defending Kittery and Saco, Maine under the direction of Massachusetts authorities during King William's War, 1689-1697. There are also 13 items dealing with Hill and Frost family affairs, notably a letter from Humphrey Chadburn to John Hill (1703-1772) describing the capture of Isle aux Noix in 1760. Finally, there are two letters to William Pepperell (1696-1759) discussing shipping ventures to Cadiz in 1733 and 1735
