Summary:Bound volume of notes taken by Ernst von Leutsch at Georg Ludolf Dissen's lectures on Aristophanes' Clouds (Wolken; p. 1-174) in the winter semester 1827/1828, at the University of Göttingen. Also included are Leutsch's notes from Dissen's commentary on Aristophanes' Frogs (Frösche; p. 175-223); that section has its own title page, which is undated. A few notes at the back of the volume (p. 225-227), in a separate section but with no title page, further concern the Clouds, beginning with a reference to a review by Karl Ferdinand Ranke of Johann Wilhelm Süvern's book Ueber Aristophanes' Wolken, of 1826. The lectures on the Clouds begin with an introduction that includes brief remarks on Greek comedy and Attic comedy, followed by sections under the headings: content and essence (p. 12); characters and content (p. 18); time and performance (p. 25), with a diagram of a theater (p. 30); and manuscripts and editions (p. 33). The main portion (p. 37-174) comprises an annotated glossary of phrases from the play by verse number, under the heading: Erklärende Anmerkungen. The section on the Frogs comprises a brief introduction (177-179) followed, similarly, by an annotated glossary
