Summary:The bulk of Lola Maverick Lloyd's papers document her life and activism during the years 1915 through her death in 1944, particularly her involvement in feminist, pacifist and world government causes. Correspondence, memoranda, reports, diaries, address books, writings, speeches, notes and printed material document Lloyd's leadership in the Woman's Peace Party, later the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom; the Griffin O'Day Bill Committee; the Campaign for World Government; and other organizations. Lloyd's participation in the Ford Peace Expedition of 1915-1916 and numerous international conferences, as well as her support of groups and individuals promoting women's suffrage, international peace and disarmament, world government, civil liberties, labor rights and other progressive causes, are also represented in the papers. Prominent correspondents include Jane Addams, Emily Greene Balch, Carrie Chapman Catt, Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi, Alice Henry, Alice Paul, Rosika Schwimmer, and Edith Wynner. Lloyd's schooling and family life are reflected in diaries, personal correspondence, memorabilia and photographs. Legal and financial papers concern marital and estate matters; donations; her house in Winnetka, Illinois; and Maverick family property in Texas.
