Stephen Maguire ended a victory drought of more than a year with victory in the final of the SangSom Six Red World Championship.

The Scotsman had not come out on top in a final since the 2013 Welsh Open but he came from 7-5 down to beat Ricky Walden 8-7 to win the short-form tournament in Bangkok.

Maguire's performance included an early break of 73, just two points short of a maximum in the format, and victory earned him a cheque for £48,000.

It also meant he denied Walden a second triumph at the tournament, which the Englishman won the first edition of back in 2008.

Maguire and Walden now head to China for the Shanghai Open which begins on Monday.

Maguire could face Ronnie O'Sullivan in the second round, while at the same stage Walden has a possible clash against world champion Mark Selby ahead of him.
