A sultry wizardress, a soaring gunslinger, a powerful swordsman, a dark huntress. These four heroes are about to be hurtled over the edge into a flight filled with darkness. Sudeki, a roleplaying game designed by UK-based Climax features huge worlds, powerful heroes, and sexy heroines -- all wrapped up in Hong Kong-style cinematic combat. Set in a world ripped apart by deceit, the heroes of Sudeki journey down a twisting path of betrayal, gravity-defying combat, and unbelievable magic. The party's four characters can combine forces to form cooperative super strikes that can devastate legions of foes, of which there are more than 100 different types.

Yes, it's incredibly redundant to say so, but it bears mention, in this case: The Xbox is far from an RPG powerhouse. Two games on its roster stand out--namely, KoTOR and Morrowind, and they do so quite significantly, actually--but apart from infrequent releases like these, it's pretty much a wash. Enter Sudeki, Microsoft and Climax's attempt at fixing this mess. It's been in the cooker for a while, and while this can sometimes mean great things, it makes me kind of sad to say that such isn't the case here. The basics are down pat--the combat is fun, and you're allowed a pretty satisfying level of leeway as to how your characters develop. But it ends there. All the other things that make a great RPG are absent. No memorable characters, no clever dialogue, no rousing story. Read More »
